Please hurry up and leave now.
They're gonna take their lifetime pensions, millions in insider trading, and high value contacts, and get thw fuck out before the music stops.
That's the smart move, especially if they have somewhere that they can lie low 'til the dust settles and the heat wears off.
So then by lie low you mean 6 feet underground.
And long-term special guest spots as being a victim and "Surviving My MAGA Nightmare" anchors on Fox?
They’ll get a golden parachute job as a highly paid lobbyist, and be right back in the rotunda, schmoozing with all their old buddies by the end of the month.
I don't understand why these butthurt republicans don't just start voting against trump. Like somehow the only options are toe the party line or resign.
They're afraid. Trump has more or less blacklisted every dissident from the party and its allies. It's a career ending move and he's even threatening some people with criminal charges.
I mean obviously they should do it anyway because it's the right thing to do. But they didn't get to where they are by pursuing public good over their own personal well-being.
Someone has dirt on them.
The Madison Cawthorne orgies probably.
It's weird how this was entirely forgotten.
Pepperage Farms remembers.
It was used as a cudgel. It's not needed anymore
Because apart from Trump, they want to toe the party line.
If a few Republican House members resign then the Democrats take the majority. Democrats can take out Trump and do whatever else they want to help people. Meanwhile the former House members can sit on the sidelines and blame Democrats (specifically for non-Trump things).
But what about the Senate? Basically the hope is that everyone will forget what you've done. Look at the recent shutdown bill, the Senate Democrats who gave up everything aren't up for reelection anytime soon. That thing they did 5 years ago? I don't really remember what that was about.
Yeah, what’s the point of a Congress if no one is allowed to do what they think is right. Everyone on the Republican side in Congress is just a rubber stamp.
People w/o spines don’t just grow them like Chia Pets. If they don’t have the guts to fight, they need to go. Even if they opposed one item — that wouldn’t be it. Democracy won’t survive silence.
Trump has an army of blackshirts he let out of jail. They will threaten and/or kill.
They don't want to get kirk'd
If only they hadn't supported a wannabe despot
Fairly sure this was predicted months ago, with the triggering event being the recent elections that were swept by the dems. The prediction was basically that if it looked like they were going to lose control of any of the houses, there'd be a ton of people trying to put distance between themselves and the govt as there's a higher likelihood they'll get prosecuted for crimes. So the early resignations, and attempts to "apologize" are mostly just about trying to avoid accountability for their actions -- rats fleeing a sinking ship.
These days, every time I hear good news I think, "How am I being played on this?" There is always a catch, it's fake, or it's a bold-faced lie. There just isn't good news anymore.
Here's what I think MTG is planning.
If we get a Blue wave next year [fingers crossed] she'll be able to go on all the news shows and blame Trump.
Expect her to say something along these lines "I was all for Donald Trump, but like you, I was betrayed. But no one man is bigger than MAGA..."
She's setting herself up for a Georgia Senate seat.
Potentially. I think she wants to be a Fox News anchor.
Okay, I'm not an expert here, but I'm pretty sure Senator is a better gig.
I defiantly see your point, but if we were betting I'd put my money on Senate.
Better returns when you play the insider trader market, so I see what you mean.
And you get to call yourself "The Honorable..."
Not sure she really fits their "visual aesthetic"
Fox was accidentally put on our work TVs today (usually CNN which isn't much better). For some reason I was able to see past the makeup and I'm pretty much every host they have now is just the Crypt Keeper underneath 20 pounds of the stuff.
I like the anchor part.
Or the end result will be worse for society.
And pedo
It's not just members of the House. They treat everyone like garbage. They're narcissists who don't give a shit about anyone else.
It's almost like if you support and elect a dictator...
No. Please stop.
Oh no! Anyway . . .
There is a lot of policy failure and blowback that contributes to this, but I like to think the party and the people are finally unable to tolerate Trump’s narcissistic abuse.
This idea of a government based on the destruction of perceived enemies is not sustainable, and is constantly eating itself for sustenance. At some point, you have to actually figure out where money for food is going to come from and screaming into the void about Democrats, immigrants, and abortion doesn’t pay the bills. The American people need healthcare, housing, education, childcare, food, and hope. NOT ICE raids, bizarre southern military excursions, shutdowns, and traumatized federal workers.
To me, this is a wonderful reminder that our votes still matter, and our system - as large and slow and complex as it is - has careful structure and momentum. The Republican Party still must respond as such.
And yet they all fall in line when it's time to c vote. How angry can they really be?
They all fell in line to release the Epstein files... Well, all but one
Only after Trump told them to.
Through clenched teeth. Let's be real, this was obviously damage control for him... The votes were already clear
Absolutely. His ego could not accept the loss so he decided to make it his idea, ignoring that he has the power to unilaterally release the files without a law from congress.
But, if there were so many angry Republicans, as the article suggests, their anger is not resulting in a change in behavior and is effectively useless. Even MTG has made her frustrations moot by resigning instead of standing against Trump.
MTG is distancing herself for a presidential run. She cut all direct criticism of Trump at the same time she started sounding like Kamala - she's got so many consultants up her ass
She resigned for the same reason so many others are considering it... It's a really bad time to be in office. Being an incumbent right now is not a good look
Republicans haven't fallen in line with Trump over ideology... They have no ideology. They just want to be reelected, and right now it's looking like Trump is a sinking ship. It's becoming very clear it's been Trump and their career, and only a few (like Mike Johnson for reasons I don't understand) are willing to double down on Trump after the election results
They are probably trying to get out in front of something bad enough that their lifetime benefits may be revoked. Better to leave with a little than stay and lose it all.
It's actually spelled Felisha in the credits, but I think spelling it Felicia still adds a little zing to the line.
Party of traitors, pedofiles and Cowards
G.O.P. stands for Guardians of Pedophiles.
They'll all quit and Trump will declare congress is no longer necessary
Promise?
Good. Keep em coming.
Doesn’t that just open up the seats to more radical players? They become appointments by the local governor and that could lead to more divisive people moving in. MTG is an outlier on the division scale, but I’m certain there are more principled republicans that will be replaced with howler monkeys similar to MTG.
Or it could mean more sensible entrants too, based on their position. Hopefully the voters wake up and realize it's not ok to sit it out.
With any resemblance of morals thrown out of the window long ago, this is only fitting.
Any Republican going is a chance for the American people to fix the current situation.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, my magazines remain loaded.
A man can only dream.
Finger's crossed that Boebert is on the list
I hope they actually explode.
Hang 'em high, citizens.
Can I ask my the daily beast gets posted here so much, it seems like it's just a advertising farm
I can't see the advertisements because of my uBlock extension in Mozilla. So, I post it because of the story with no understanding or comprehension of the advertisements.

To whom was that long stream of quotation supposed to be attributed?
Right, but... who? It seems like a lie, or wishful thinking; It's exactly the kind of thing I'd like to believe, which makes me instantly suspicious.
Digging a little deeper, here's the original quote. Jake Sherman is a journalist, who attributes the quote to "a senior house republican."
Agreed, but it does check out in that the White House staff are all incompetent miserable bastards with no respect and less sense.

They all intersect together either way and will more than likely find other people that you can collaborate with. Many of us are doing, many of us are getting more people to do, and many of us are succeeding despite any setbacks.
