The Galloway Hoard was discovered in 2014 by metal detectorists in Balmaghie, Dumfries and Galloway, and has been described by experts as one of the most important archaeological finds in the UK this century.
Love the idea that one of the biggest finds of the century was some randos with metal detectors looking for a neat coin or two
Archaeology in Britain is on easy mode. Shit's just laying on the ground half the time.
