When I came across this (not for the first time) a few years ago, I was staggered. It was like I saw a kid shooting hoops when graduated from elementary school in the 90s, came back 30 years later, and saw the same kid still shooting hoops with a beard around his knees. I really aught to see what three decades of development produced...

It's a fun game, maybe the best realistic survival roguelike. I'll usually play a new character once a year or every other year to experience the new updates. I finally figured out persistence hunting and can reliably get big game.

It really needs to update to widescreen though. Otherwise i don't mind the simple graphics.

There is nothing more satisfying that managing to preserve an entire elk without wasting anything

Love this game. Been playing it for almost a decade now. It can be so..sooooo brutal. Until you figure out the cheese mechanics.

That doesn't exactly sound like good design

Meh, I choose not to use the cheese, and it's meant to be really hard.

What are the cheese mechanics (high level)?

I've heard about this game maybe 7-8 years ago, been meaning to try it, but have never got it. It's actually not my type of game (I am more into city-builder, tycoon/business sim and strategy game), but its history makes me want to play it at least for a few hours.
