I highly doubt there's any causative relationship between any of these factors. Seems like they'd all be attributable to being less-developed, less wealthy countries.

Edit: probably some causation between animal feeding operations and pollution, but I don't think it would be the primary cause.

but I don't think it would be the primary cause.

Pollution isn't just smog. Anywhere near a pig farm will have water pollution like crazy.

Comments from other communities

There are more than 15,000 cattle and hog feeding operations in the United States. These operations rear 70% of the country's cattle and 98% of its hogs.

Is this the new sanitized corporate term for factory farm? I doubt they're just feeding the animals and letting them go afterward.

Animal feeding operation (AFO) includes more than just factory farms, but most animal agriculture happens in factory farms in both the US and globally. At least in terms of number of farm animals

Concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) is usually the sanitized term for factory farm though it may exclude some places you'd might call factory farms because it's a term primarily based around the number of farm animals per location

Is the less health insurance coverage related or just coincidental?

Like these spurious correlations

I don't think that one is implied to be causational. I think this is saying that these communities are even more likely to feel the negative effects because of that regardless of the exact reason why this happens to be the case
